Getty Villa Exhibitions

Today at the Villa, The Last Days of Pompeii exhibition opens and will run through Jan. 7, 2013.  Rather than show off antiquities from Pompeii, the exhibition will focus on the afterlife of the eruption and its representation in later art.  It's exhibitions like this that remind us that Classical culture is to be found everywhere — sometimes in quite interesting ways.  We'll keep any eye open for any special events related to the exhibition.

And the spectacular Lion Attacking a Horse sculpture is still on display at the Villa.  We'll soon be planning a JCL trip to the museum sometime in November to see it, along with the Pompeii exhibition.
